On arriving back in the UK from New York where he lived for two years, Manoli Yannaghas set about looking for a house. Manoli¡¦s time in America had given him an appreciation of the Internet and its usefulness. So he naturally thought that the Internet would be the perfect starting point to find a home. However, although useful, there were too many property sites, all claiming in their own way to market property ¡V but relatively few were doing it effectively. It was more frustrating and time consuming using the Internet to find a home than was expected. In fact it was taking longer to yield a return than it would have by calling the estate agents.

Some of the problems Manoli encountered include.

1. Lots of sites claiming to be ¡§The UK¡¦s premier property portal¡¨.
2. The good sites were being outnumbered by bad by at least 3 ¡V 1.
3. The number of properties that were online with the major sites (not estate agents) was far less than was being made out. Further to this many of the sites had overlapping property.
4. Finding estate agent web sites online proved very difficult.

These were only a few of the factors that make the online house hunting experience so tough. There are no doubts that at present the Internet can add great value to the house-hunter, however it is still very time consuming.
